
COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- Evacuations are underway in a Compton neighborhood after the sheriff's department received a call about a possible explosive device found inside a home.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said they received the call shortly before 1:30 p.m. from a person claiming to have found a possible explosive device.
Deputies responded to the 800 block of North Chester Avenue and issued an evacuation order, as a safety precaution, for homes within a two-block radius while they worked to determine if the device was dangerous.
It was not immediately clear what the device is, but it was reportedly found in a storage area of the attic. The LASD Sheriff's Arson Explosive Details was responding to the scene.
No further details were immediately known. The investigation is ongoing.
